MORRISSEY's new studio album 'Years Of Refusal', originally expected to be released in September, will now to be released in early 2009.

THE THOMPSON TWINS reissue a remastered edition of their brilliant 'Here's To Future Days' album this week in a dramatically expanded 2-CD package featuring the original album plus all the 12" remixes, bonus tracks and b-sides from the record... 28 TRACKS in all.

DAVE STEWART is undertaking a special tour with a 'rock orchestra' to promote his upcoming release 'The Dave Stewart Songbook, Volume 1' which collates songs the former EURYTHMICS mainman has written with a number of artists including JON BON JOVI, TOM PETTY and SINEAD O'CONNOR. JOE JACKSON has announced another round of US dates in support of his recent album 'Rain', starting in San Francisco in October and finishing in Miami Beach in November. See GIGS for all the dates.

KRAFTWERK are to be the subject of a new documentary 'Kraftwerk and the Electronic Revolution' which will be released on September 2nd. The release charts the history and influence of the act and includes interviews with band members, rare live footage and previously unreleased photographs.

NIK KERSHAW has announced another of his occasional acoustic concerts and will play Andover's The Lights on November 12th. See GIGS for all his upcoming dates.

THE CLASH are to release a live album, featuring a concert they played supporting THE WHO at New York's Shea Stadium in 1982, on October 6th. The release will contain the band's entire fifteen song set. Released on the same day is Don Lett's DVD 'The Clash Live - Revolution Rock' which contains more than twenty performances from all stages of The Clash's career. Additionally, a book entitled 'The Clash By The Clash', the first authorised biography of the band, featuring extensive interviews with all the band member will be published on October 3rd.

DAVID BYRNE's much anticipated album with BRIAN ENO, their first collaboration since 1981's 'My Life in the Bush of Ghosts', will be entitled 'Everything That Happens Will Happen Today' and is released on August 18th, preceded by a free download single 'Strange Overtones' via the release's official website. JAPAN's back catalogue has been reissued in Japan in scaled-down CD-size replicas of the original album covers. The reissue series also includes the eponymous album from Japan spin-off RAIN TREE CROW as well as three DAVID SYLVIAN solo albums.

Hi there,

We hope you’re well and that your summer’s been going as good as ours - things are certainly coming together for the release of our first new music in some time and we’re so looking forward to August 25th when ‘The Last Stop’ the first single from our new album ‘Open Soul’ finally comes out.

We’re totally thrilled that so many people have joined the Hue and Cry Music Club and have been enjoying all the exclusive content etc. As we both put a lot of work into creating the Music Club, it’s completely invigorating to see so much activity going on in there – please keep it up!!!

The last time we wrote, we were letting you know that Hue and Cry Music Club members were getting the exclusive heads up on our forthcoming tour dates, speaking of which it was nice to see so many of you at our wee warm up show in Edinburgh – its certainly wetted our appetite for the shows in September. This time around, we’re excited to be letting you know that as a result of the clamouring to get hold of our new music, we’ve decided to give away one of our favourite tracks from the album ‘Plan B’ completely free via the Hue and Cry Music Club.

The new Hue and Cry album ‘Open Soul’ will be released on the 8th of September, but if you can’t wait until then to hear the new music, there are some tracks available at the Hue and Cry Music Club for you to listen to and get a taste of what’s in store. And if that’s not enough you can download a free copy of one of Pat and Greg’s favourite album tracks ‘Plan B’ to tide you over until September. We are also pleased to confirm that the first Hue and Cry single lifted from the ‘Open Soul’ album will be ‘The Last Stop’. The single has been described as a “breath of fresh air” and will be available via digital download from your favourite online music provider from the 25th of August.

DURAN DURAN's album track 'Tel Aviv' is under discussion to become the official theme song for the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Israeli city next year. The city is also said to be in talks with the band about headlining a special concert in the city as part of the celebrations.

SIMPLY RED will play a special greatest hits concert in London in December. The show, scheduled to follow the band's new hits collection which will be released in November. See GIGS for details.

OMD are to release a CD/DVD hits package in EMI's 'Sight & Sound' series on September 22nd.

THE HUMAN LEAGUE, ABC and HEAVEN 17 have added another date to their forthcoming 'Steel City Tour'. The new show will take place at the Newport Centre on December 12th, see GIGS for all the dates.

THE CURE are currently working towards an October 13th release date for their currently untitled new album. Meanwhile the band will release a fourth single from the album,'The Perfect Boy', on August 13th and an EP of all four singles in remixed versions on September 13th.

BLANCMANGE will have their three studio albums; 'Happy Families', 'Mange Tout' and 'Believe You Me' reissued on September 1st in remastered and expanded editions. Blancmange meanwhile are working on new material although no release dates have been set. See NEWS for the full tracklistings of all three albums.

GEORGE MICHAEL is rumoured to be reuniting with his former WHAM! partner ANDREW RIDGELEY for his forthcoming shows at London's Earls Court...

KILLING JOKE will release an album of radio session recordings, 'The Peel Sessions '79 - '81', on September 8th. The release will see the first CD release of all seventeen tracks on the album in their live session form. See NEWS for the full album tracklisting.

SHALAMAR will be one of nine musical acts accompanying David Gest on his forthcoming 'David Gest... My Life' tour which starts on October 3rd.

HUE AND CRY will play a short UK tour in September to support their upcoming new album 'Open Soul' which is due for release on September 8th. See GIGS for all the dates.

MARIAH CAREY is planning a major tour later this year to promote her current 'E=MC2' album and is promising that the shows will be 'elaborate'.

THE BLOW MONKEYS have been forced to change some of the September dates they had planned to promote their reunion album 'Devil's Tavern'. See GIGS for the new tour schedule.

THE PRETENDERS will release their new album 'Break Up The Concrete' one downloadable track at a time, each via a different download store in the run up to the CD release of the album on September 23rd. The first track 'Boots of Chinese Plastic' is available via AOL and from the band's own website.
