The latest incarnation of the former ZTT act and John Peel alumni Propaganda begin again with the first in a series of 12"s on Germany's Amontillado label. "Valley Of The Machine Gods" defies simple description, being a gentle, floating composition with cinematic overtures and progressive changes, incorporating muted jazz, lite bossa touches and a Deutscher heart. As remixers are wont to do, they inevitably deviate towards a single element of the original. Therefore stable mates Musiccargo (Clone licensed their "Black Horse" for Box Jams) reinterpret it as a Krautrock-influenced post-disco rhythm, Adam Kroll (Traum) goes for the abstraction of a clicky techno rendering and the short More Discipline remix also picks up on prog angle via a Can-style percussion track and spoken word vocals.
