KOOL AND THE GANG will headline a brand new UK arena tour which is set to take place at Christmas. The '80s Rewind' tour will also feature performances from SISTER SLEDGE, ABC, HOWARD JONES, GO WEST, T'PAU and THE CHRISTIANS at eight shows around the UK in November and December. THE HUMAN LEAGUE have announced a UK tour with sixteen shows planned in November and December. The dates will be the first for almost ten years to include new material in the set. See GIGS for all the dates.

YAZOO will release a live album on September 27th. The 2-CD set entitled 'Reconnected Live' will feature tracks from the band's 2008 reunion tour and will be available in a standard and deluxe edition as well as via download. The album tracklisting will be announced shortly...

PROPAGANDA will release a deluxe edition of their 'A Secret Wish' album on August 2nd to mark the 25th anniversary of the original release. The new 2CD edition will feature the original album alongside various remixes that were formerly only available on cassette and vinyl on one CD, and a second disc of bonus material including the complete 20-minute cassette mix of 'Duel', Trevor Horn's previously unreleased 'Dr. Mabuse (Thousand Eyes???)' remix, a work-in-progress version of 'The Chase' and ten-minute 12' mixes of 'Frozen Faces' and 'p:Machinery'. JAPAN bassist MICK KARN has been diagnosed with advance stages of cancer and an appeal has been launched to help him find treatment and provide financial support for his immediate family. MIDGE URE has already said that he is working on staging a special fund-raising concert to take place later this year, and you can find out more about the appeal at the official Mick Karn website...

REM will see a remastered and expanded edition of their 1985 album 'Fables Of The Reconstruction' released on July 12th. The release will be available as a 2-CD set (which will also include a poster and four postcards) and the original album will also appear in a special vinyl edition. MADNESS will be the musical guest at a special charity event for Warchild which will take place at London's Royal Festival Hall on July 27th. The event - 'The Pub Landlord's Southbank Jukebox' - will be hosted by Al Murray and will also feature Jason Manford and a special guest yet to be announced.

THE ART OF NOISE will release a retrospective 2-CD set entitled 'Influence (Hits, Singles, Moments, Treasures)' on August 2nd. One CD will compile all the band's hits plus collaborations, key album tracks, movie & TV themes, 12' remixes and B-sides, while the second CD will retell the Art of Noise story via 20 previously-unreleased tracks from all eras of the group's history, from 1983 to the present day???

HAZEL O'CONNOR and THE SOUTH (formerly The Beautiful South) have both been added to the bill of this year's Guilfest Festival alongside acts including THE HUMAN LEAGUE and KID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS.

THE MISSION will release a compilation of b-sides and unreleased demos that also features seven new tracks on July 5th. 'Dum-Dum Bullet' is a companion to the band's 2007 album 'God Is A Bullet' and will also feature a brand new extended remix of 'Dumb' by Mission guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite.

SALT-N-PEPA will play a rare UK set at London's South West Four Weekender on Clapham Common on August 29 on a bill that will also include Fatboy Slim and Paul Oakenfold.

BOW WOW WOW are the subject of a new compilation, also entitled 'Bow Wow Wow', that is released this week. The 2-CD set collects all the band's singles alongside key album tracks, b-sides and rare recordings. See NEWS for the full album tracklisting.

U2, THE POLICE, THE CLASH, THE STRANGLERS, THE SPECIALS, THE BEAT, THE PRETENDERS, SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES and THE PSYCHEDELIC FURS are among artists featured in an exhibition of photographs taking place in London's Trafalgar Square on July 1st to mark Canada Day. The exhibit, 'Toronto Calling', will feature a host of images taken in Toronto between 1979 and 1981, which have never been displayed in the UK before.
