New single "Meaningless" by Jay Wires captures the essence of lost love and narcissistic discard with infectious 80s synth vibes.

Synthesist-songwriter Jay Wires dials up catchy electropop infused with human emotion - synthpop art with a human heart.

No one knows how once-meaningful moments can echo in your head quite like the brokenhearted. You can either wallow in misery or, like Jay Wires, you can put them to music in your synth cave and wallow in misery. The latter option is succinctly carried out in a deceptively up-tempo synthpop eulogy to what was.

Gaining a reputation for crafting memorable melodies and wistful soundscapes, emerging artist Jay Wires unveils his latest single, "Meaningless", set to captivate listeners with a poignant narrative of realization and disappointment following the demise of a relationship. Laden with catchy, familiar 80s synth vibes reminiscent of iconic acts like Eurythmics and Erasure, "Meaningless" is a testament to Jay Wires' ability to evoke raw emotions through his unique brand of electronic pop.

"Meaningless" delves into the universal experience of lost love as well as the haunting aftermath of a traumatic breakup with a narcissist. With its irresistible refrain and relatable lyrics, "Meaningless" is poised to resonate deeply with listeners worldwide, but even more so with those who are walking the same path of recovery from narcissistic abuse.

This popwave lament cleanly conveys the vivid picture of heartache with an uncomplicated melody, punctuated with an infectious sing-along chorus that will have you alternately sighing along to subtle, aesthetic chill-inducing strings and tapping your toes to plucky vintage keyboard hooks as you commiserate with Jay Wires, yearning for closure.

Fans of synth-pop and heartfelt songwriting alike will want to add this enchanting track to their playlists, and take a moment to escape the demands of their day to immerse themselves in the experience of the magic of Jay Wires' electropop therapy.

Meaningless” will be released by Yes Trigger Music on May 17, 2024 and will be available on Bandcamp as well as major streaming platforms, including Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, and Youtube.

Was the world ever ready for Thomas Leer? Listening back to Thomas’s The Scale Of Ten one can hear all the potential there. It’s this theme of tweaking a recipe. Here it was to make his once abrasive, experimental blue-eyed soul into a chromed-out beast, outfitted in Fairlight CMI clothing, permeating with giant-sized hooks. In 1985, this once industrial and noise darling, commanded the attention of Trevor Horn and tried to make the unlikely leap into Pop stardom.

On The Scale Of Ten we get the pure, unadulterated stuff: Thomas as torch singer for the hardest, darkest times where a little abrasive roughness around the edges works much better to take the scum off. Don’t you know, not everything is a laughing matter.

Back in 1984 funksters Feelabeelia were signed to an off-shoot of Island Records.
Singer Mark Price, drummer Nick Murphy and keyboardist Andy Povall were was recording their second single, Feel It, at a state-of-the-art studio down south.

Then the Motown legend's manager rang, asking if Stevie Wonder could borrow the studio for the day, as they were using the only mixing desk in the country compatible with the great man's studio back at home. Feelabeelia graciously made way and waited for Stevie Wonder to arrive after a gig at the NEC.

Nick said: "We thought he would come down in a car with a couple of mates, but he pulled up in a coach with 60 people on it. It was absolutely fantastic. It turned into a massive party. "He did the vocals on I Just Called To Say I Love You. We kept nipping in and out to listen. It was unbelievable. He finished early on the Monday morning and said 'what are you doing?' So the producers put the tape up and said 'it's really good but you could use this, that and the other'. Being a cheeky Leicester chap I said 'well you do it then'. He just got Wonderlove (Stevie Wonder's female backup vocalists) in on the backing vocals, put some harmonica on and in half an hour he was gone."

Stevie Wonder's record label immediately cracked down on Feelabeelia crediting him on the track. But there was no rule about keeping people guessing.

And the band turned the mystery into a virtue, teasing inquisitive reporters with clues like "errr, it's not Larry Adler". Although Simon Bates A-listed Feel It, and played it to death, it peaked at 75 in the charts and Island soon dropped them. But it was a different matter overseas. Feel It reached number four in the charts in Italy and was in the German top 10.

Nick said: "We were stars abroad, and on the dole here. It was quite weird".

Quincy Jones stepped in and signed them to his Qwest label and the band jetted out to Los Angeles to finish their album East to West

Feelabeelia's career ended in bitter court wrangles with Qwest after they refused to release the follow-up album. Nick left to form Ska-Boom, Andy ran a studio in Leicester and is now in El Pussy Cat Ska and Mark is pumping gas in between writing children's books.
