The Police are to headline the second annual American Virgin Festival, it has been announced. Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland's comeback continues at the top of the bill at the summer event, which takes place in Baltimore.
??
Beastie Boys and The Smashing Pumpkins are the other main draws at the festival, with a full line-up set to be announced in the coming weeks.
??
Promoter Seth Hurwitz described the headliners as "blockbuster" bands and explained how the rest of the line-up is shaping up. "We only have 12 slots a day on two big stages, and our concept is to fill our slots with the absolute best talent available. We don't book any 'favor' spots", he told Billboard.
??
The Virgin Festival takes place on August 04+05 at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.
