Events Calendar / Dead Or Alive - Unbreakable: The Fragile Mixes
« Last post by Pmachine on 23 Aug 2020, 01:12 »
Dead Or Alive have sold more than 30 million albums and 25 million singles worldwide and gave Stock Aitken Waterman their first #1 single. Their first three albums, which the band wrote, all reached the UK Top 30, with ‘Youthquake’ reaching the Top 10.

In the 1980s, they charted seven unique singles in the UK Top 40, with two further re-entries this century, with a remix and original version of ‘You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)’.

Respected US magazine Billboard, ranked them in their all-time Top 100 most successful ‘dance artists’ chart. “Unbreakable_The Fragile Remixes” was a 2001 Japan-only release, which followed on from the success of “Fragile”. The label requested permission to commission a ten-track remix album. The album formed part of the ‘Sophisticated Boom Box MMXVI’ box set in 2016 and received its debut UK and first vinyl LP release as part of Record Store Day 2017.

This edition is released in its original Japanese Promo LP configuration and will be pressed on 180g heavyweight pale green colour vinyl.

Events Calendar / Soft Cell - Cruelty Without Beauty
« Last post by Pmachine on 23 Aug 2020, 01:04 »
Soft Cell’s 2002 reunion album ‘Cruelty Without Beauty’ is set for reissue in new expanded and remastered 2CD format, as well as being released on vinyl for the very first time.

Long regarded by many fans as an overlooked masterpiece, the album features a lyrical outlook that was as true to Soft Cell’s maturity and perspective back in 2002 as it is relevant and accurate to the world situation in 2020. Harshly honest, fatalistic and bleakly humorous, Cruelty Without Beauty also preserves the band’s highly distinctive and edgy sound, and stands alongside their greatest work.

The new 2020 version includes tracks originally destined for the album, but for various reasons not on the final cut. It also includes brand new 2020 versions of album highlights Monoculture, Together Alone, Darker Times and Last Chance, updated this year by Dave Ball. Also included are a number of unreleased live versions of album tracks, plus rare remixes.

2CDs housed in a book sleeve. Featuring almost 160 minutes of music, including brand new 2020 mixes, unreleased/rare remixes plus unreleased live tracks recorded at a triumphant homecoming reunion show in Leeds in 2002. New artwork and sleeve notes, unseen photos, plus fully printed lyrics (for the first time) and other content from the archives.

Events Calendar / Jonsi - Shiver
« Last post by Pmachine on 23 Aug 2020, 01:00 »
Shiver is the exciting and beautiful second record from LA-based Icelandic musician Jónsi. Recorded in Berlin, Reykjavik, London and Suomenlinna and available exclusively on heavy weight vinyl for the indies.

Not too long ago Jónsi was traveling through London, where he met up with iconoclastic producer A.G. Cook, who he admired for his boundary-breaking work with the PC music collective. He had no expectation for the meeting, but the more they talked, the more he realized they might be perfect collaborators. “I’ve been doing this for 30 years,” Jónsi says. “I get tired of everything really easily. I always want things to be fun and exciting and fresh, and doing another album...I just wanted to have a different approach.”

Jónsi had made a career on sweeping music that plumbed the depths of the human experience and our connection to the natural world. Cook’s production exists at the opposite end of the spectrum: synthetic, sometimes abrasive, and often on the cutting edge of experimentalism. On paper, their collaboration is surprising, but Shiver is a beautiful record that pushes Jónsi’s otherworldly voice into startling new territories.

Events Calendar / Jonsi - Go (Red Vinyl)
« Last post by Pmachine on 23 Aug 2020, 00:57 »
Sigur Rós front man Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson released his debut album ‘Go’ in 2010. Jónsi initially though he would be making a low-key, acoustic album until, as he says, "somewhere along the line, it just sort of exploded." that explosion resulted in sheer aural fireworks, not a straight ahead pop record, nor rock, folk, ambient or electronic, it encompasses all of these to create an expansive musical palette that’s been brought to life by Jónsi alongside a number of free-spirited collaborators including the Philip Glass protégé Nico Muhly and the percussive genius of Samuli Kosminen.

Met with great critical acclaim Go is out of print and will be repressed on exclusive transparent red vinyl and released on Sigur Rós own record label, Krunk.

Events Calendar / Suede - Best Of 1992 - 2018
« Last post by Pmachine on 23 Aug 2020, 00:54 »
From their early singles and their 1993 Mercury Music Prize-winning debut album to their break-up in 2003, Suede were a fixture in the single and album charts, and in the music press too. They scored twenty hit singles and five hit albums (three of which debuted at # 1), and a double album of B-sides even charted at # 9.

The band reformed for a one-off charity concert in 2010 and decided to make it permanent – they have released three new studio albums since 2013.
