Events Calendar / Dead Or Alive - Invincible
« Last post by Pmachine on 23 Aug 2020, 00:45 »
INVINCIBLE’ – that’s what Pete and Steve believed they were...and they were right.

Their legacy lives on today with the recent colour vinyl LP reissues delighting longstanding fans, as well as being a voyage of discovery for newer ones. With future release plans made prior to both of their separate and untimely passing, to focus on the post-1990 period, this 9CD box set includes 103 tracks across five individual album sets, with label copy and a selection of photographs in a 28-page hardback book.

Featuring ‘Fan The Flame (Part 1)’, ‘Nukleopatra’, ‘Fragile’ and ‘Unbreakable – The Fragile Remixes’, ‘INVINCIBLE’ also includes 60 additional mixes, with many acapella and instrumental versions of previously released tracks and their recordings for the U2, Madonna and Prince tribute albums. The fifth ‘album’ in the box set is a 2-disc set ‘Spin Drive’ which includes a combination of 25 tracks and mixes of ‘You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)’ and ‘Sex Drive’. Two of Pete’s versions with the Italian group Glam are also featured.

Although the track was first performed live in Japan in 1990, ‘INVINCIBLE’ gives the debut official release to ‘My Love’s On The Line’, the master tape for which was discovered last year in Steve Coy’s archive. The cover photography is courtesy of Gozra Lozano, which remained unpublished until very recently.

Events Calendar / LAU - Recognise
« Last post by Pmachine on 23 Aug 2020, 00:39 »
LAU's third cut, Recognise, taken from her forthcoming debut album is yearning for a fresh start and a continuation on the themes started with the previous two singles. Following the popular 'crying at the dancefloor' sub-genre mastered by the likes of Robyn and closer stylistically to an updated Giorgio Moroder masterpiece, the incessant pulsation of the synths, the punchy drums and frieze-like bassline emerges from the darkness like a Phoenix from the ashes of a burnt out relationship.

The song throws hook after hook, the main leitmotif moves from the lead synth to the vocals and back again like an earworm. At 2:58 the song seems to be only just starting and the sudden ending only leaves us wanting more, forcing us to instantly hit reply. A perfect metaphor for what it seems to be the events that inspired the song in the first place. This is the true mark of a great song masterly put together.

Dead Or Alive have sold more than 30 million albums and 25 million singles worldwide and gave Stock Aitken Waterman their first #1 single. Their first three albums, which the band wrote, all reached the UK Top 30, with ‘Youthquake’ reaching the Top 10.

In the 1980s, they charted seven unique singles in the UK Top 40, with two further re-entries this century, with a remix and original version of ‘You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)’.

Respected US magazine Billboard, ranked them in their all-time Top 100 most successful ‘dance artists’ chart.

Their first and only single from the album, ‘Hit And Run Lover’, reached #2 on the Oricon Singles Chart in Japan.

This special 20th Anniversary Edition of “Fragile” is the first time that the album has been commercially released on vinyl in its original configuration, with original playing durations and will be pressed on 180g heavyweight red colour vinyl.

Events Calendar / LAU - Stunning
« Last post by Pmachine on 14 May 2020, 00:25 »
LAU (Laura Fares) is a long-time songwriter, drummer and prominent figure in the Synthwave and Retrowave scenes based in London, UK.

Her music blends retrowave and synthwave influences with pop.

LAU has toured the world performing and writing with different artists including Sam Sparro, Clean Bandit, Ricky Martin, Taio Cruz, Big Black Delta, The Wanted, NINA and many more.

LAU is signed to Aztec Records and Aztec Music Publishing.

Stunning is the début single from LAU (aka Laura Fares). After years of writing for other artists, releasing her own music was a natural step for this multi talented artist.

LAU's masterful songwriting combined with Ohio based Brian Skeel's skillful production have created a song that combines high-energy pop, synthwave and retrowave aesthetics and at the same time, expressing some very heart felt lyrics.

Imagine HAIM filming a Flashdance style aerobic video or being chased by a DeLorean in a dark, rainy night. The highly infectious chorus will get into your brain like a neon ear-worm.

The title says it all, this début is just stunning!
