22 Oct 2005 - Again 80's News

A-HA have announced the tracklisting for their forthcoming album 'Analogue' which is due to be released in November. The new single 'Celice' is out now!

THE SMITHS ' 'Please Please Please Let Me get What I Want', SADE 's 'No Ordinary Love', COCTEAU TWINS ' 'Wax And Wane' and THE CURE 's 'If Only Tonight We Could Sleep' have all been covered by the Deftones on their new 14-track compilation 'B-Sides &rarities'.

DURAN DURAN frontman SIMON LE BON 's birthday will be honoured at the next 'Smash Hits 7' clubnight in London. The club, dedicated to playing music from the bands of the first seven years of Smash Hits magazine (1978-1985), will be playing extra Duran Duran tunes at Holloway road's Nambucca between 7pm and midnight on October 27th to mark the singers birthday... a percentage of the bar price will also be donated to Save The Children!

A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS have announced more UK shows in December along with shows in Germany, Belgium and Poland.

THE DAMNED will celebrate the release of a new single, 'Little Miss Disaster', with UK and Irish dates through November and into early December. The tour starts on November 11th, the day of the single release and runs until December 4th.

HOWARD JONES has added concerts in Sweden and the US to his forthcoming schedule. The singer, who releases a new album 'Revolution Of The Heart' next week, will play two Swedish shows in November and six US shows in January and February.

PSYCHEDELIC FURS frontman RICHARD BUTLER has signed a new record deal with Koch Records who will release his forthcoming solo album 'Richard Butler' in early 2006.

GARY NUMAN will launch his new album 'Jagged Halo' with a special London gig on March 18th next year. The gig, which will be recorded for possible CD and DVD release, is likely to feature the new album in its entirety alongside various other new songs which may appear as bonus tracks, b-sides etc for the project.
And... congratulations to GARY NUMAN and wife Gemma (who it turns out I first met when we were both teenage Toyah fans hanging round the same stage doors!) who had a new baby this week. The couple have had a baby girl, a sister to their daughter Raven, who will be called Persia - all the very best to the Numans!

Hung Up??(2xCDs &12")

Madonna, The Queen Of Pop is back, and as we've all come to expect, with a brand new look and musical direction to boot. This time firmly commanding us to join her on the dancefloor, this brand new studio album features production duties from Stuart Price, Bloodshy &Avant and Mirwais. Includes the brand new single 'Hung Up', taken from her eagerly anticipated album 'Confessions On A Dancefloor'. Forever changing styles and looks, this time round Madge samples the classic 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' by ABBA on this thoroughly modern dancefloor filler.

Sugababes - Taller In More Ways

The UK's premier girl group are set for a triumphant return with the release of their hotly anticipated new album 'Taller In More Ways'. Amazingly, for a group who have just turned 20, this will be Sugababes fourth studio album, which has seen the girls team up with famed hit making producers and writers like Dallas Austin, Brian Higgins, Cathy Dennis and Guy Sigworth. It's an approach that paid dividends, resulting in a collection of contemporary and sophisticated pop classics, with resonating beats, strikingly confessional lyrics and some of the most thrilling vocal performances by the 'Babes, whilst still maintaining their diverse musical influences and experimental sensibilities.
??

Album highlights include the smash hit electrified single 'Push The Button', the impossibly catchy 'Red Dress', with a thrillingly infectious pop chorus that will burrow into your brain and take up residency for the rest of the year, the empowering anthem 'Ugly', which finds the girls tackling emotional and confessional material with maturity well beyond their years, 'Ace Reject' which serves as the big sister to their classic 'Run For Cover', and a brilliantly seductive reworking of Animotion's 80's classic 'Obsession'.

By far, 'Taller In More Ways' is the most accomplished and dynamic album to date by the Sugababes, and looks set to return the girls to the top of the charts for a long time to come.
