Kelly Osbourne - One Word
(12"& 2xCDs)

??

Since topping the charts with her dad Ozzy in 2003 with ‘Changes’, Kelly Osbourne has taken time off from her music career to star in the hit US teen drama ‘Life As We Know It’. All those angst-ridden storylines seem to have matured Kelly. First single, ‘One Word’, marks this change in direction and tone for Kelly, having shed the teenage tantrums of her debut album for this new electro-tinged sound, with ‘One Word’ being a slick and polished slice of 80s dance and futuristic pop (with a hint of ‘Fade To Grey’ by Visage) and produced by the ubiquitous Linda Perry.
Kelly has decided to prove all her doubters wrong by changing musical direction and releasing one of the catchiest pop albums so far this year.

With tracks co-written and produced by Linda Perry (Christina Aguilera, Pink, Gwen Stefani), ‘Sleeping In The Nothing’ is what you’d expect from such an uber-talent; a slick and polished masterpiece, blending 80s electro-pop and rock elements to splendid effect. Tracks like ‘Uh Oh’, ‘Redlight’ and ‘Edge Of Your Atmosphere’ bounce along with just the right amount of synths and infectious retro beats, whereas ‘Secret Lover’ and ‘Don’t Touch Me’ hint towards the punk-rock aggressiveness Kelly displayed on her debut album. Lyrically the album proves how much Kelly has grown and matured over the past two years, but still manages to captivate her riotous and pleasure-seeking persona. Whilst the blatant change of musical direction might come as a surprise to Kelly Osbourne fans, ‘Sleeping In The Nothing’ is crammed full of infectious and catchy songs.
