01 Aug 2005 - Madonna is 'Hung Up'

Madonna has announced details of the first release from her new album, "Confessions On A Dancefloor".

The comeback single will be "Hung Up", which has been produced by Stuart Price, aka Jacques Lu Cont, reports madonna.com. An autumn release is expected. Lu Cont is understood to have produced "Confessions On A Dancefloor", Madonna's first new album since 2003's "American Life". The album is apparently currently being mixed in Los Angeles.

According to reports, Madonna will shoot the album cover next month with Steven Klein, who is also expected to direct the video for "Hung Up". Producer Lu Cont was the musical director for Madonna's "Re-Invention Tour" last year and also co-wrote the track "X-Static Process" from "American Life".

Michael Jackson's new album has sold just 8,000 copies in its first week in the United States.
The singer's sixth greatest hits album, The Essential Michael Jackson, limped into the charts at number 128 as fans appeared to snub the star.

The figures will come as a huge blow to the one-time King of Pop, who had hoped to make a comeback after being acquitted of child sex abuse last month.

Jackson, 46, has sold more than 300 million albums since he first hit the charts as a child with the Jackson 5. His new album was launched by Sony BMG last week. The two-disc set includes songs spanning his entire career, from 1970's I Want You Back to 2001's You Rock My World.

Texas return with the storming new single, ‘Getaway’, the perfect appetiser for their forthcoming album, ‘Red Book’, which is being served up in the autumn. Texas have long established a lineage of classic, upbeat, radio-slaying pop singles,
with ‘Getaway’ joining the ranks alongside ‘Black Eyed Boy’, ‘Inner Smile’ and Halo’ as the sound of Texas at their peak; with its urgent feisty shout from Sharleen Spiteri over a three-minute rollercoaster of pianos, guitars and electronics we see the band back on form.
