Mari Wilson. She appeared in the spotlight in 1982,??sported a huge beehive, and instigated a one-woman resurrection of Julie London-influenced big band numbers. Neasden’s famous Queen of Soul, now has a new release ‘Dolled Up’ on Beehive Records

Her new CD "Dolled Up" is mostly over-polite jazz-pop, but on tracks such as Storyline (the new single), Look Out for You and the 19th-century children's song I Don't Want To Play In Your Yard, a hint of Peggy Lee creeps through.

GIRL TALK
Featuring the stunning combined talents of Claire Martin, Barb Jungr and Mari Wilson

Three singers at the top of their fields give their all in sequins, aprons and rubber gloves! Award winning British Jazz Singer of the Year Claire Martin, International Cabaret award winner Barb Jungr and Neasden Queen of Soul Mari Wilson, solo and in harmony, bring the songs you love to hate to life again for the first time on CD in this glamorous celebration of all things girlie!

Exploring the role of the modern woman through the songs of Bacharach, Sondheim and Tamla Motown, Girl Talk is a fabulous three-part harmony about dating, marriage, love, loss, kitchen equipment and make-up.

Back in 1998 Barb and Claire met Mari while watching singer Rebecca Paris perform in London's Dean Street. Barb had successfully appeared some years earlier with The Three Courgettes alongside Mari in The Wilsations. Now, between the three of them, the seeds of Girl Talk were born!?? The three agreed to work together on the show, and spent many a happy time around Mari’s orange kitchen table arguing and eating gluten free florentines.

Following seven years of touring success across the UK, audience demands for on-hand Girl Talk therapy in CD format left us with no choice but to get our house in order, scrub up and get everyone into the studio. The results are, we’re sure you’ll agree, gleaming. The ultimate girls night out now present you with the ultimate girls night in – with men high on the agenda.

At last we can give you??the details??on??the next Saint Etienne single, A Good Thing, out on October 31st.
It comes in three formats - you know they'd just release 4 track EPs if??they had??their way but... they go something like this.

7": A Good Thing b/w I'm Falling
CD1: A Good Thing (das Germanwings mix), Missing Persons Bureau
CD2: A Good Thing, Book Norton, Quiet Essex

Beautiful artwork by Lora Findlay - see below!

So... the mix is by Charlie Casey and Steve Hellier, a Death In Vegas spinoff team. "I'm Falling" is a co-write (but not a duet) with David Essex, an outtake from their latest CD??"Tales From Turnpike House". It's spooky, you'll love it. "Missing Persons Bureau" is an acousto-jazz autumnal cover - see if you can work out who did the original. "Book Norton" and "Quiet Essex" are both from the soundtrack to "What Have You Done Today, Mervyn Day?" Book Norton was written by Debs - it's almost medieval.

06 Nov 2005 - New Single Releases

An electro-disco tale of dancefloor dramas and steamy shenanigans, 'Look On The Floor (Hypnotic Tango)' is Keren and Sara at their very foxiest. Taken from Bananarama’s forthcoming album 'Drama', 'Look On The Floor (Hypnotic Tango)' follows the girls' comeback 'Move In My Direction', which stormed the charts over the summer.??
??Girls Aloud have always broken the rules, so why change the habit of a lifetime as they prepare for their tenth Top Ten hit. Once again enlisting the sheer ingenuity of Brian Higgins and Xenomania, 'Biology' twists and turns from a bluesy riff and an emotionally wrought vocal from Nadine, to an infectious and stomping example of how to get electropop right. Take notice Lisa Scott Lee! 'Biology' is just another reason to check out Girls Aloud’s third album, 'Chemistry', out in December.??
??'Don't Give Hate A Chance', the third single to be taken from the 'Dynamite' album, is pure and unmistakeable Jamiroquai. "An anthemic, DJ ready, sign of our times", as singer Jay Kay describes it himself.
'Don't Give Hate A Chance' is a rousing and thought provoking disco-edged track, destined to be a guaranteed floor filler
.
??After the runaway success of their comeback single 'Song 4 Lovers', providing them with their biggest hit since 'Just A Little', a refreshed and invigorated Liberty X have now been chosen to front this year's Children In Need campaign.
'A Night To Remember', a reworking of the Shalamar pop-soul classic, is the perfect track to showcase the band's slick vocals and dance moves, and is bound to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.
