Popcorn Kid’s production is far from forgettable… Full of ear candy and subtle details, the song starts with a muted arpeggiated bassline that sets the mood. The sudden rocky guitars, glitchy synths and filtered pads create a patchwork of textures way richer than your average synthwave/retrowave backing track.

LAU’s personal lyrics and vocal delivery are a convincing call for emancipation.
There’s only one way out. To go forward and move on.

If this is a taste of things to come, the future of the genre is in good hands.

Kylie shared the news to her followers online, revealing her latest track will be released this Thursday, September 24. Magic serves as the second single from Kylie's upcoming album DISCO, which is released on November 6. It's her 15th studio album, following 2018's chart-topping Golden.

In a recent interview about the album, Kylie said: "The theme for the album is disco, which took a little while to find what my interpretation of that is. There's definitely a balance of fun, pure escapism and then... that emotional element. It's pretty much a party. At this rate it might be a kitchen disco or lounge disco."

I always loved the Alcazar classic Crying At The Discotheque, and since I sang it during the kitchen discos it forever holds a special place in my heart. I hope you enjoy it too!

Lots of love,

Sophie Ellis-Bextor
