ADAM ANT is to play an acoustic set in London to launch the publication of the paperback edition of his autobiography 'Stand & Deliver'. The set will be punctuated by him reading extracts from the book and will take place on September 24th at the Bloomsbury Theatre.

DEBORAH HARRY
will release her forthcoming solo album 'Necessary Evil' on September 17th preceded by a single 'Two Times Blue' on September 10th. See
NEWS for the album tracklisting. Harry has also written a new track for a stage version of the film 'Desperately Seeking Susan' which will open at London's Novello Theatre in October. The production will also feature a number of classic BLONDIE hits including 'Heart of Glass', 'Atomic' and 'The Tide Is High'.

THE CURE
are expected to release a new single as a download only in September in advance of their new studio album which will follow in October or November. The release is likely to be available as a limited-edition double album mixed by frontman ROBERT SMITH as well as a single disc album which is likely to be mixed by someone else for a full commercial release. The album will also feature three songs inspired by demos the band originally recorded in the 80s. See

NEW ORDER are to carry on without founding member PETER HOOK who announced his departure from the band recently. BERNARD SUMNER and STEPHEN MORRIS have issued a joint statement to the effect that New Order will continue to exist.

SIOUXSIE SIOUX will release her first solo album 'Mantaray' on September 10th, preceded by a new single 'Into A Swan' on August 27th. See NEWS for the album tracklisting.

ANNIE LENNOX will release a new album 'Songs of Mass Destruction' in October and already named tracks include 'Fingernail Moon', 'Dark Road' and 'Sing', the latter inspired by her humanitarian work with Nelson Mandela's 46664 campaign and featuring contributions from 23 female artists including MADONNA, K D LANG and BONNIE RAITT.

ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN have added a second show to their annual hometown Christmas gig and will now play Liverpool's Academy on December 9th.

STEVEN DUFFY
's 1986 album 'Designer Beatnik', released under the name DR CALCULUS, has been reissued as a download only featuring five bonus tracks... see

THE B-52s and TALKING HEADS' frontman DAVID BYRNE have contributed tracks to a compilation of original songs from the past nine seasons of 'The Simpsons' entitled 'The Simpsons: Testify'. 'Everybody Hates Ned Flanders' features Byrne while the B-52's appear on 'Glove Slap'.

JOHN FOXX will release a special 2-CD edition version of his 1980 album 'Metamatic' on September 3rd. The release will feature the original album as well as the b-sides from all the singles and a number of previously unreleased tracks from the album sessions and John Foxx will embark on a short 'Metamatic Tour' in September and October, see GIGS for all the dates.

Annie Lennox has gathered an all-star cast of 23 female stars for her forthcoming album "Songs of Mass Destruction".

The track "Sing" features vocals from the likes of Madonna, Sarah McLachlan, Celine Dion, Fergie, Faith Hill, Pink, Dido, Gladys Knight, kd Lang, Angelique Kidjo, Bonnie Raitt, Shakira, Melissa Etheridge, Anastasia, Joss Stone and KT Tunstall.

The song was born from the former Eurythmic's involvement with Nelson Mandela's 46664 campaign - the charity established to raise funds for human rights, health care and education for those affected by HIV/AIDS.

In a press release discussing the album, Lennox said: "I feel closer to my own cutting edge than before and my voice seems to be in its prime."

The album was recorded in Los Angeles, London and Miami and produced by Glenn Ballard.

"Songs of Mass Destruction" will be released on October 2nd.
