Following the announcement of their 40th anniversary career box set and greatest hits collection, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark are delighted to unveil details of a limited edition 7” vinyl of our debut single ‘Electricity’.

It’s set for release September 27th and available for pre-order now: CLICK HERE.

Originally released in May 1979, Electricity was Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark’s debut single. To celebrate the single’s 40th anniversary, this new limited edition version will be pressed on ultra-clear vinyl and contains the original Factory Records version of Electricity, as well as a brand new remix of Almost by Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure). Both tracks have been remastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road and the sleeve is an adaptation of the original Peter Saville design.

Tracklisting:
Side A: Electricity (Factory Records Version)
Side B: Almost (Vince Clarke Remix)

Andy McCluskey says: “For Paul and I, holding in our hands an actual vinyl record of a song we had written as 16 year olds was one of the greatest thrills of our young lives. Forty years later, that original garage recording still has a charming energy that makes us proud. We are honoured that Vince Clarke has created such a distinctive personal remix of the B side ‘Almost’.”

Vince Clarke says: “Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark convinced me to switch to synths… I thought I can do that. I can write songs like that.”
