So much more than a chronological checklist of the international award-winning singer/ songwriter’s most popular hits, this 57-song set includes the cream of her Warner Bros. catalogue recorded between 1976-1993, drawn from eleven albums (along with tracks from the classic all- star live jazz LP, ‘Casino Lights’) that all reflect the soul-baring breadth and depth of Randy Crawford’s musicality through her instantly recognizable voice.

Disc 1 features 20 roots R&B, Jazz, standards and the bluesier side of Randy’s balladry. Highlights include her redefining covers of The Eagles’ ‘Desperado’, Jerry Butler’s ‘I Stand Accused’, her instant standards ‘When Your Life Was Low’ and ‘One Day I’ll Fly Away’ (written by Joe Sample and Will Jennings), and the unforgettable ‘I Hope You’ll Be Very Unhappy Without Me’.

Disc 2 features 19 of Randy’s lushest love songs including ‘Now We May Begin’, ‘I’m Under The Influence of You’, ‘Endlessly’, her classic live duet of Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell’s ‘Your Precious Love’ with Al Jarreau, ‘Rio de Janeiro Blue’, two Leon Russell chestnuts ‘Windsong’ and ‘Time for Love’, the timeless gems ‘I’m Glad There is You’ and ‘At Last’. The disc closes looking at love on the level of all humanity with a breathtaking live version of John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’.

Disc 3 is a smorgasbord of Randy’s dazzling shapeshifting musical styles that includes her signature breakthrough hit with The Crusaders’ ‘Street Life’, the sassy dance rock jam ‘Blue Flame’, covers of Journey’s ‘Who’s Crying Now’ and Kenny Loggins’ ‘Who’s Right, Who’s Wrong’, her movie soundtrack classics ‘Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door’, ‘One Hello’ and ‘Don’t Wanna Be Normal’, the rare European one-off 45 ‘Give Peace a Chance’, and the oft-covered anthem ‘You Might Need Somebody’ after which this anthology was named.

With an in-depth essay by project producer A. Scott Galloway that includes new commentary from Randy herself, Joe Sample, Nicklas Sample, Russell Ferrante, Steve Lukather, James Gadson and more, this compilation (executive-produced by SoulMusic Records’ founder David Nathan) features tasteful artwork by Roger Williams, and exquisite mastering by Nick Robbins.

Released March 17, 2023.

a-ha have announced that their iconic debut album Hunting High And Low will be released for the first time ever in a stunning 6LP boxset.

The boxset of the 1985 album will be released on 24 February, featuring an expanded track selection including demos, extended versions, alternate mixes, and B-sides. It will also feature a collectible rigid slipcase box, containing the album represented across 60 tracks on black 140g vinyl,  and a 64 -page 12”x12” booklet with extensive liner notes and photography.

Hunting High And Low is regarded as one of the most successful debut albums of all-time, and spawned an incredible career for the Norwegian band. With hit singles such as The Sun Always Shines On TV, Love Is Reason, Hunting High And Low and, of course, the iconic Take On Mea-ha achieved international acclaim, and the album saw them nominated for a Grammy Award in 1986 for Best New Artist.

Regarding the 6LP boxset release, the band said: “Recording Hunting High And Low was such a defining moment and an exciting time in our career and joint collaboration, so revisiting this body of work now – more than 30 years later – feels like inspiration rather than obligation”.

Everything But The Girl have unveiled their first new song in over 20 years, Nothing Left To Lose.

Formed in 1982, The duo, consisting of Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn, enjoyed four UK Top 10 hits, including I Don’t Want To Talk About It and Missing, during a career lasting 18 years. They released their last album, Temperamental, in 1999.

A new LP, Fuse, is expected later in 2023.

The album, states the press release, “is a modern take on the lustrous electronic soul the band first pioneered in the mid-90s. Thorn’s affecting and richly-textured voice is once again up front in Watt’s glimmering landscape of sub-bass, sharp beats, half-lit synths and empty space, and as before, the result is the sound of a band comfortable with being both sonically contemporary, yet agelessly themselves.”

Speaking about the band’s re-emergence and new album, Tracey Thorne says: “Ironically the finished sound of the new album was the last thing on our mind when we started in March 2021. Of course, we were aware of the pressures of such a long-awaited comeback, so we tried to begin instead in a spirit of open-minded playfulness, uncertain of the direction, receptive to invention.”
