????Peter Hook will write the official story of New Order's Hacienda nightclub, he has confirmed.
The bass player in the enormously influential Manchester band has begun work on the project, which he believes will show how The Hacienda "changed the world of clubbing".
Bought by New Order and Tony Wilson, the owner of Factory Records, the club enjoyed enormous success during the acid house boom in the early '90s but proved financially disastrous for all parties.

The film "24 Hour Party People", starring Steve Coogan, documented The Hacienda's involvement in the career of New Order and the 'Madchester' scene at the time.

Hook does not currently have a publisher for the book but has decided now is the time to tell the official story, which he is considering calling "How Not To Run A Club".

Hook told The Manchester Evening News: "I realised I'd bored my friends for years with tales from The Hacienda so now I thought I'd bore the general public with it.

"But once I started to get into the writing I realised what a huge endeavour it was, and that I was going to have to work on it properly to do it justice."

"To us it's a tale of woe, but The Hacienda did change the world of clubbing. Even though it took me to the edge and it took Factory Records to the edge. The stories are legion and legendary."

08 Sep 2006 - REM Reunite...

The seminal REM line-up are to reunite for a one-off show this month, when they will be inducted into the Georgia Music Hall Of Fame.

????Michael Stipe, Mike Mills and Peter Buck will be joined at the ceremony by original drummer Bill Berry, who left the band just over a decade ago.

Since quitting REM in 1997 following a brain haemorrhage, Berry has appeared with the band just three times, at special, brief one-off occasions.

It's currently unknown what the band will play at the event, although manager Bertis Downs revealed they're "considering recording something for a yet-to-be-announced charitable project."

REM will be inducted into the Georgia Music Hall Of Fame on September 16, before commencing on their first new album since 2004's "Around The Sun".

"And I Feel Fine", a collection of early recordings, rarities and unreleased tracks, is released on Monday, September 12.

It will feature two new tracks, 'Money For All' (the title of the ep), co-written by David and Burnt and 'Get the hell out' by Steve and David. The mini album will also feature remixes and interpretations by Burnt of 3 tracks from the Nine Horses album 'Snow Borne Sorrow' (The Banality Of Evil, Wonderful World, and Serotonin) and alternative versions of the two new tracks plus the Japanese only released bonus track 'Birds Sing For Their Lives' with Stina Nordenstam.
