06 May 2007 - New Order: Split?

The future of New Order is again in doubt, after Peter Hook confirmed the band have split up.
??
The bass player appears to have clarified recent reports that the legendary Manchester group will not work together again.
??
Hook revealed the news in an interview about Satellite Party, Perry Farrell's new band, just days before the premiere of the Joy Division biopic "Touching From A Distance".
??
He said: "I spoke to Perry, and he asked me to play bass, as he'd heard about New Order splitting up. Well yeah, me and Bernard (Sumner) aren't working together."
??
In the interview with XFM, Hook said the split was definite. "Bernard went off for a break with Electronic, but that was different. But it's like the boy who cried wolf this time."
??
"Touching From A Distance" is directed by Anton Corbijn and is based on the book of the same name, written by Ian Curtis' widow Deborah.
??
This week, it was announced that the movie will be premiered at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, which takes place between May 16-27 at Cannes in France.

06 May 2007 - Marc Almond News

Marc Almond's new album 'Stardom Road' will be released on June 4th 2007 on Sanctuary Records. The album is a musical journey of cover songs that have influenced Marc through his life and his significant growth as an artist.
??
The album also contains one new song, 'Redeem Me (Beauty Will Redeem The World)', which Marc wrote specifically for Stardom Road. The album has been compiled with the help of Tris Penna, who produced many of the tracks with the acclaimed producer Marius de Vries and arranger Mike Smith. It features guest spots from Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons; Jools Holland, with whom Marc has often toured; and Sarah Cracknell from St Etienne.
??

02. I Close My Eyes and Count to Ten (featuring Sarah Cracknell)
03. Bedsitter Images
04. The London Boys
05. Strangers In The Night
06. The Ballad Of The Sad Young Men (featuring Antony Hegarty)
07. Stardom Road
08. Kitsch
09. Backstage (I’m Lonely)
10. Dream Lover
11. Happy Heart
12. Redeem Me (Beauty Will Redeem The World)
13. The Curtain Falls
??
The first single from the album will be the Dusty Springfield cover 'I Close My Eyes and Count To Ten' (Featuring Sarah Cracknell) available as an iTunes download track from 28th May.
??
Marc says of the track: "As a kid, I watched the great ballad singers of the sixties on an old Bakelite-encased black and white television, and they somehow saturated my adolescence in colour; female singers with too much eye makeup, and torch-singing crooners, inevitably recounting lost loves and missed chances. Sometimes it all seems like a dream. This song features the singer Sarah Cracknell, whose voice conjures up perfectly the images of Britain in the sixties"
