23 Dec 2020 - NINA ft. LAU - Control

Control’ is undoubtedly a gloomier body of work than NINA has released before, despite her expressions of loss, she is still The Queen Of Synthwave. Her voice is still on top starlet form, so these five songs don’t quite venture into the gothwave territory.

Control’ ably showcases the range of dynamic possibilities that NINA has opened herself to within both pop and darker music directions, so it will be very interesting to see where she heads next once she has settled down in her new environment.

Wild Love, the new single from Friday Night Firefight, shows off the band's punk guitar and classic synth-pop influences, blending huge 80s inspired drums with memorable synth backed hooks. These starkly opposing influences are echoed in the track's dynamic production, creating wave after wave of excitement.

Former member of M83, STAL delivers an ambitious and ethereal remix of WET SUNSET's track Apricale

A clever re-orchestration, a smart climate change (with voice cut ups, classical pianos and melancholic stringers...) turning a bright poppy tune into a deep and introspective ambiant track.

Supercomputer, the latest single by Zenith Volt, showcases the artist's original songwriting, solid production, outstanding performance and thoughtful lyrics. The song lyrics are a reflection on the meaning of life and the influence of technology in our understanding of the universe. Blurring the lines between reality and simulation, dream and vigil.

With its characteristic high-energy baritone and incessant beat that propels us to an inevitable future of human-machine integration, the song is almost an ode to technology, making 'love' the most human aspect of the symbiotic relationship.

If a supercomputer might help us become more than human, this song is making sure we keep our humanity alive.

22 Dec 2020 - Cymatica - Caskets

Caskets is the second single from the upcoming 'Somewhere In Between EP' from Cymatica. Out early 2021.

Another masterful piece of songwriting and understated production. The incessant arpeggiated bass and muted drums supports Terena's delicate vocals like a casket that works as a recipient, but also as a restraining mechanism.

'Caskets' possesses light and dark elements to it. The esoteric lyrics are a reflection on life and loss that can be dark and abysmal and at the same time a call to add 'colour' or 'lightness' to the inevitable.

Cymatica's unique brand of nostalgia and their existentialist look on life are perfectly showcased in Caskets.
