Samantha Fish's new recordings of ‘Run Run Rudolph’ and ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’ pay loving tribute to two of her favourite holiday tunes.

'Run Run Rudolph' is always such an upbeat song, we thought it would be cool to dip it in some noir," laughs Fish. "I think it gave it a unique character that's different from everything out there. I chose 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' because of my love for all things '60s soul. It's the biggest rock'n'roll Christmas song ever, and being a Darlene Love fan, I wanted a chance to put my heart and soul into it."

Demon Music will release Renaissance, an 11-disc M People career-spanning box set in February that features albums, remixes, rarities and two DVDs. An exclusive limited edition with a signed print is also available.

M People won two BRIT awards and a Mercury Prize and released four studio albums, the last being Fresco in 1998. All of them are included, newly remastered, in this new box set and each comes with a bonus disc of remixes. The ninth CD in the package is an exclusive bonus disc of remixes by Frankie knuckles and David Morales.

The first of two DVDs features all the band’s promo videos (plus new interviews with members Paul Heard, Mike Pickering and Shovell) while the second features live performances.

This box set comes with a 48-page colour booklet and the exclusive edition comes with a print of a ‘Search For The Hero’ lyric sheet signed by Heard, Pickering, and Shovell (no Heather!). These are limited to 500 units.

Renaissance will be released on 14 February 2020.

The signed edition is exclusive to Amazon UK.

Pet Shop Boys today announce details of their highly anticipated new studio album, “Hotspot”, which will be released on January 24th 2020 on x2 Records/Kobalt.

“Hotspot” was mostly recorded in Hansa Studios, Berlin, and mixed in The Record Plant, Los Angeles. It was produced and mixed by Stuart Price and features ten brand new Tennant/Lowe tracks including the single “Dreamland” featuring Years & Years, which was released in September. Another of the songs, “Burning the heather”, features Bernard Butler on guitar and was recorded at RAK Studios in London.

Pet Shop Boys say:

“We’ve written much of our music over the last ten years in Berlin and it was an exciting experience to work on this album in the legendary Hansa studios there and add a new dimension to our sound.”

The album is the last instalment of the trilogy of PSB albums produced by Stuart Price, following “Electric” in 2013 and “Super” in 2016. It will be released on CD, vinyl and digitally and is available to pre-order now.
