Mistletoe and Wine

It's that time again, as we prepare the elves to make and deliver this year's Saint Etienne Christmas goodies.

Firstly we'd like to thank you for all your support this year. The release of 'International' - our final LP of new material - was bitter-sweet but made special by our highest UK chart position in over 30 years with the LP making number 8 on the national charts.

The reception to our three singles 'Glad', 'Take Me To The Pilot' and 'Brand New Me' was overwhelming and all of that coming hot-on-the-heels of "The Night" and it's singles 'Half Light' and 'Alone Together'. It's been a really busy 12 months for us and it was great to meet so many of you at our record shop signing tour back in September.

Some of you will have noticed that we've announced two special live shows with Belle and Sebastian at Piece Hall in Halifax and Dreamlands in Margate next summer. We're told those are well on the way to selling out but there are a few tickets left here:
Piece Hall tickets
Dreamland tickets

We'll be announcing details of our final ever UK tour - happening in September 2026 - next Tuesday but first details of our Christmas offerings for 2025.....
Something many of you have been requesting since Christmas 2022 is a CD issue of 'The Character Of Saint Etienne', so we thought it was time to make this happen.

The album features 12 tracks - previously only available on the long deleted vinyl editions - housed in a glossy gatefold card wallet with 8-page booklet.

Our 'Take Me To The Pilot' CD completes the set of three CDEPs for 'International' and like the others includes three bonus songs unavailable elsewhere. Housed in a card wallet the EP features photofit images of us all by Paul Kelly.

Both CDs are limited editions, exclusive to our shop and you can view them here now.

The Christmas preorder opens at 5pm UK time* this coming Thursday 22nd November and orders ship internationally from December 1st.

Both CDs can be purchased individually or as a discounted bundle and all orders placed by December 1st will receive an exclusive 2025 Saint Etienne Christmas card.
Thanks for being bloody marvellous to us this year!  It's a time of change but not the end. Please stay tuned to our InstagramFacebookBlueskyThreads and Tik Tok pages for news of live shows next year.

We're excited to see you all in 2026 and beyond!!

Lots of love,

Sarah, Bob and Pete xxx

* 5pm UK time equals 6pm in Europe, noon EST and 9am on the West coast of the US.

20 Nov 2025 - Maxx Parker - Stay Warm

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to drop a message to let you know that my new ambient album ‘Stay Warm’ is out today.

This project came together right after I got back from a trip to New York with my wife in October and it ended up being the quickest album I’ve ever made. Finished in just under two weeks … crazy. I think a big part of that is finally I was making music I genuinely would listen to myself. When you’re creating a sound that just flows out naturally rather than forcing it … the process is just easier.

So if you need something to unwind to, to think to, or to keep you company on cold dark evenings, I hope this album brings you some calm.

Thank you, as always, for listening and supporting.

Stay Warm out there this winter. Take care.

Maxx Parker

19 Nov 2025 - Robyn - Dopamine

DOPAMINE, OUT NOW

Some things — like desire or falling in love — refuse to be decoded. You can understand the science, but the feeling itself stays wild and mysterious. We want to feel in control, but we're just flesh and blood on a rock, spinning around in space.

It's been a week since Dopamine was released and after working on it on and off for a decade, that feels fantastic. The response I've received has made me so happy, I can't thank you enough.

Here are some BTS photos from the music video shoot that was directed by the incredibly talented Marili Andre.

There's a lot more to come and I'm so excited to see you soon x

"A profoundly catchy melody that NINA effortlessly delivers with her trademark breathy timbre. It’s the perfect fit for Johan Agebjörn’s propulsive just-past-midnight club banger that reverberates off your body like a hard-edged Sally Shapiro number. The beats are tight, the synths are colorful, and the vocals are ethereal. This, my friends, is a damn fine song." Vehlinggo

"‘Hush Hush Baby’ is right up our alley, it being a dreamy dose of Scandi-Italo disco, so perfectly suited to NINA’s sultry vocal." Teases & Dares

Johan: Hush Hush Baby is for me a lot of synth joy, a song where I found back to the playfulness where it all began. When you listen to early italo disco you can sometimes hear how much fun the producers had with their synths, it was an experimental time with sounds that could have a raw character, everything wasn't always so well mixed but that was compensated by playful energy. I thought the track would be perfect for NINA, who has a wonderful voice and always puts a lot of emotion into her songs. She masters this type of music.

NINA: I was excited to team up with Johan, because I love his Sally Shapiro records and his instrumental solo work is just beautiful. What hooked me on the track he gave me was the upbeat dance groove and synth curves which inspired a lover’s fantasy of joyriding through winding, neon lit highways somewhere in the night. I think our collaboration resulted in a song that has a kind of unexpected edge. Oscillian’s remix, with his dreamy and cinematic signature style, adds yet another dimension to the song.
