The first show of the 30th Series of Later went with a bang with performances from SIOUXSIE SIOUX, HARD-FI, SOIL AND "PIMP" SESSIONS, RICHARD HAWLEY, KAKI KING and LAURA MARLING. Don't worry if you missed it, you can watch the whole show again at www.bbc.co.uk/later.

On to this Friday's show!

Fusing glitchy electronica with edgy 'math-rock', BATTLES are an experimental 4-piece from New York with an insatiable appetite for new sounds and musical ideas. They perform tracks from their first full-length album Mirrored.

ROISIN MUPRHY's second solo album Overpowered is a smooth and seamless blend of electronic soul and crisp house. As one half of the 90s duo Moloko, Roisin's sublime vocal has been the main feature of many a dance-floor classic.

With a discography that stretches to well over 40 albums, Fairport Convention guitarist RICHARD THOMPSON is a British songwriter with an undeniable talent. One of Rolling Stone magazine's top 20 all-time guitar greats, his new album Sweet Warrior was released in May this year.

Australian pop-rock veterans CROWDED HOUSE previously appeared on Later in 1996 (although Neil's popped in a couple of times since then!) They return to the studio to play tracks from their recent album Time On Earth as well as a Crowded House classic.

ANGIE STONE released her latest album The Art Of Love & War on the newly reactivated Stax record label. Having previously sung backing vocals for Lenny Kravitz and later shared songwriting credits on D'Angelo's Brown Sugar, Stone has crafted a formidable solo career since her debut album release in 1999.

KURT ELLING is a jazz singer from Chicago whose timeless voice has won him more DownBeat awards than you can shake a stick at. His most recent of seven albums, Nightmoves, was released this year and he makes his debut Later appearance.

Hope you can join us this Friday at 11.35pm on BBC TWO.

We want to invite you to meet SHINE, our TECHNOPOP duo, by visiting our website: www.shinebabyshine.com.ar, where there are three songs available for free download, or by downloading them directly from the links below:

Keep the secret | Lips of God | It's the way

Also, we would like you to send us your comments, constructive criticism and suggestions to info@shinebabyshine.com.ar We hope you enjoy our refreshing proposal. Thank you very much!

After 10 years of experimenting with electronic music, SHINE appears as a project that emerges as a refreshing proposal for current Techno scene, seducing with warm vocal harmonies and cozy melodies, delicately complemented with suggestive rhythmics, you can actually dance to.

The project started early in 2006, when both artists plunged headlong into the composing stage of their first studio work: 9 addictive songs that journey through contrasting climates and textures, evoking in every moment warm and pleasant sensations. The name of the album, "The Price of Freedom", fully embodies the message to be conveyed.

The Glam-Dark aesthetic, very personal and typical of the duet, determines the dominant atmosphere of the live shows, supported by multimedia resources that enrich the visual performance.

SHINE is just now releasing its first studio material. However, the duo has extensive plans for further albums, to be recorded after “The Tour of Freedom”. Please, keep the secret!

Influences: New Order, The Cure, Recoil, Aes Dana, Jesus Jones, Madonna, David Bowie, Olive, Placebo, Pulp, Sneaker Pimps, Soulwax, Chemical Brothers, Erasure, Depeche Mode, Savage Garden, Pet Shop Boys.
