Over a career spanning more than two decades, Lisa Gerrard has established herself as a unique figure whose work has covered a multitude of musical endeavours. She now releases a record which offers the perfect introduction to this wealth of riches : nine albums with Dead Can Dance, three beautiful solo works, a series of collaborative masterpieces and a string of award-winning motion picture soundtracks.

Simply titled "Lisa Gerrard", the album was selected and sequenced by Lisa herself. And so it's a genuine "best of" which offers a concise and entirely convincing insight into the various strands of her musical output. In short, "Lisa Gerrard" blends soundtrack work, Dead Can Dance highlights and the pick of her solo recordings into a seamless and spellbinding whole.

Marc Almond would like to thank the fans in Istanbul for making his first proper concert in a year so special. Singing the song by national icon Zeki Muren partly in Turkish (he is sorry for any bad pronunciation) and hearing your reactions singing back to him was one of his greatest concert moments. If anyone has a recording (audio, video, phone, etc) of fairly decent quality of this moment, Marc would like a copy and it would be greatly appreciated. Please send an email to
kate@marcalmond.co.uk if you can help. A small selection of photos from the concert will appear in the Stage area of The Theatre web site soon.

Ian Astbury is planning to end his work with Doors members to relaunch his 1980s hard rock group The Cult, the British singer said.
??
"I have decided to move on and focus on my own music and legacy," Astbury, 44, said in a statement emailed by The Cult's Los Angeles-based publicist Todd Brodginski. Astbury has been performing with Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek, 68, and guitarist Robby Krieger, 61, under the name Riders on the Storm for the past four years. "I have learned a great deal from the both of them, and it certainly has expanded my abilities as a performer," Astbury said of the '60s legends. "This has been a difficult decision to make but I feel I would be holding them back as well as myself if I did not depart at this time."??

Ian Astbury, a singer heavily influenced by the late Doors frontman Jim Morrison, will now focus on "relaunching" The Cult with guitarist Billy Duffy. Britain's The Cult gained fame in the '80s with such hits as She Sells Sanctuary, Revolution and Rain.??
??
Riders on the Storm, according to group manager Tom Vitorino, will continue to perform and is looking at a short list of potential vocalists, Brodginski said. The group has just finished a sold-out tour of Europe, Brodginski said.

A movie about Milli Vanilli is in the pipeline, according to reports emerging from Hollywood.

The film will detail the rise and fall of the '80s duo, who became international stars only to be exposed as pop frauds.
Jeff Nathanson, writer of "Catch Me If you Can", is understood to be behind the biopic, which has the backing of the group, claims the Daily Variety.
Both Fabrice Morvan and the estate of Rob Pilatus, who died in 1998 of a drugs overdose, have apparently approved the project.

Nathanson admitted to being "fascinated by the notion of fakes and frauds, and in this case, you have guys who pulled off the ultimate con." He describes Milli Vanilli, who sold 30 million singles and 11 million albums, as "the biggest laughing stocks of pop entertainment."

The group were awarded a Best Newcomer Grammy in 1990, only to be stripped after it was revealed that they hadn't sung on their own recordings.
