26 Aug 2005 - 80's Artists News

A-HA have announced that their forthcoming studio album will be titled 'Analogues'.

SIOBHAN FAHEY
will release a new single 'Bad Blood' on her own SF label at the beginning of October, the single will feature a number of mixes and it is hoped there will be some gigs scheduled around the same time.
A solo album from the former BANANARAMA and SHAKESPEAR'S SISTER singer is due in January.

ABBA will release a career-spanning boxset on November 7th containing the band's entire studio recordings across nine CDs, plus two DVDs, one of which will feature a previously unavailable live concert.
The audio discs will contain each of the band's studio albums, plus all non-album singles and B-sides, and versions in Spanish, German, French and Swedish as well as rarities and alternative mixes.

ABC are scheduled to release a three-disc boxset 'Look Of Love - The Very Best of ABC' on September 26th, although it looks likely that the release might slip a couple of weeks into October. The release features the band's singles across two CDs alongside an impressive array of remixes, alternative versions and bonus tracks, plus a DVD featuring all the band's videos.

THOMPSON TWINS' frontman TOM BAILEY has released a second album as International Observer. The dub-orientated album 'All Played Out' is initially released on the New Zealand label Round Trip To Mars but is expected to get international releases in the near future.

BELINDA CARLISLE
is working on a new album, a collection of French classics including songs made famous by Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel and Francois Hardy.

ERASURE singer ANDY BELL will play DJ sets at a couple of London clubs in September and October as part of the promotion for his forthcoming solo album 'Electric Blue'. Andy will play at 'Pearl Necklace' on September 9th and 'Electrogogo' at Madame JoJo's on October 6th.

EURYTHMICS
mainman DAVE STEWART has signed a new publishing deal which will cover forthcoming new music from Eurythmics. Stewart is currently working with ANNIE LENNOX on new Eurythmics material for possible release towards the end of this year.

????Gwen Stefani continues her run of hit singles with the release of ‘Cool’, a tale of former lovers who are able to settle into friendship, based on the real life circumstances revolving Gwen and No Doubt bandmate Tony Kanal.Co-written and produced by Dallas Austin, ‘Cool’ is a wistful pastiche of 80s pop, and is taken from the phenomenally successful album ‘Love. Angel. Music. Baby’.

??‘Push The Button’ is the electro-tinged brand new single from the Sugababes, taken from their forthcoming fourth album ‘Taller In More Ways’. ‘Push The Button’ is another edgy and classic stomper.
Capitalising on their streetwise credentials and individual vocal strengths, but also marks a new maturity in the band, milestoned by the recent birth of Mutya’s first child.

'Home' is the first single to be taken from Simple Minds forthcoming album, 'Black & White 050505' album.

'Home' will be released across two CD singles on September 5th. CD #1 includes a radio edit of 'Home' backed with the non-album track 'Bird On A Wire', CD #2 includes the album version of 'Home', a rendition of Grant Lee Buffalo's 'Mighty Joe Moon', the Trixton Portendo Dance Mix of 'Home', plus an enhanced video of 'Home'.

Jim Kerr's distinctive voice comes through strong in their first single, 'Home'. Together with co-founder and lead guitarist Charlie Burchill, they've produced a pop song that should lay to rest any rumours that the band have had their day. 'Home' recalls classic Simple Minds with a driving rhythm and the distinctive Burchill guitar sound. Kerr says, "There are a number of songs on the album that will make great singles but I feel that the way 'Home' kicks in with Charlie's signature soaring guitar riff, there could be no better way off announcing to the world that Simple Minds had recaptured the kind of uplifting musical spirit that defined our best work."
