ERASURE ANNOUNCE SHOWS IN BRAZIL AND CHILE IN AUGUST
I know there's a lot of love for Erasure in South America, which it makes it an extra pleasure to announce that we have just announced shows in Brazil and Chile in August. The band will play concerts in Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Sao Paulo, Porto Alegre and Santiago between August 4th and 13th and, before I drown in indignant emails from other South American countries, there are more South American shows in the pipeline which will be announced shortly! All the shows will have a special Erasure Information Service ticket pre-sale which will allow subscribers to this list to purchase tickets a few days before they go on public sale, and those details will be sent out as soon as I have them! More details are available in the
news and live sections of the Erasure website.

ANDY BELL - 'POPSTAR TO OPERA STAR'

The ITV1 show 'Popstar To Opera Star', which sees eight singers - our very own Andy Bell among them - undertake an intense course of opera training before competing live in front of a studio audience and broadcast to the entire nation, starts this weekend. Tomorrow night (Saturday) there will be a preview show 'Popstar To Opera Star - The Curtain Raiser' at 9pm on ITV1 which will be hosted by Myleene Klass and which will introduce the eight contestants and the judges, then the series starts properly on Sunday at 8pm on ITV1. Andy won't actually be doing his first performance until the following Sunday's show (June 12th), but he will be in the audience! If you fancy applying for tickets to be in the audience for the show then you can get details about that on the Erasure and Andy Bell websites, and all the shows will be available to view online via the ITV Player, although I believe territorial restrictions may apply if you want to view from outside the UK. In the meantime you should check out Andy's page on the show website, which includes a great little video interview and some tiny snippets of performance!

'SOMETIMES - A LIFE OF LOVE, LOSS AND ERASURE' PUBLICATION DATE AND LAUNCH EVENT
You may remember that I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, 'Sometimes - A Life of Love, Loss & Erasure' is Paul Hickey's autobiography. For those of you that don't recognise the name, Paul Hickey has been (and still is) Andy Bell's manager pretty much since the start of Erasure, and was also - for many years - Andy's partner. The book tells the story of Paul's life so far in a very honest and engaging way and, naturally, includes loads of insights into his personal and professional relationships with Andy and Erasure, plus tales from Paul's fascinating childhood and his more recent battle to recover from the series of strokes that left him paralysed a few years ago. Andy Bell has written the foreword and both Paul and Andy will be launching the book on June 22nd at the 'Polari Goes Pop' literary event at London's Southbank Centre (
tickets for that are £5 and are available now), the same day as the book is officially published. More details about how you can buy a copy will be available shortly.
