Legendary Scots rockers Simple Minds are set to perform a rare outdoor concert in Edinburgh on Monday August 28 at this year’s ‘T on the Fringe’ festival. Set at the foot of the stunning Edinburgh Castle in Princess Street Gardens, the concert marks the return of one of Scotland’s biggest music exports. Tickets go on sale today, Friday June 9th.

The ‘T on The Park’ concert follows hot on the heels of the bands’ headline performance at the World Cup Launch at last night's Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, two days before the first big match.
Simple Minds have also announced two more UK summer concerts; Chichester RAJF Festival (West Sussex, July 12), and the Orange Ashton Court Festival (Somerset, July 23).

Singer Kylie Minogue was named Woman of the Year at a showbiz ceremony. The star was honoured at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards for her inspirational battle against breast cancer. Kylie, 37, could not attend the London bash but sent a message to her fans. "The last year has been my least public but, in many ways, the most," she said. "Your support has been an enormous help and I hope to be back with you all in person very soon."

??

The other winners did attend the glittering ceremony in Mayfair's Berkeley Square Gardens. Charlotte Church glammed up for the evening to accept the UK Solo Artist of the Year Award. Doctor Who star Billie Piper was named UK TV Actress of the Year. Liz Hurley received the award for Entrepreneur of the Year after launching her beachwear range. And Sharon Osbourne, fresh from hurling insults at Rebecca Loos on X Factor: Battle of the Stars, was crowned TV Personality of the Year. Royal Zara Phillips was named Sportswoman of the Year in recognition of her equestrian endeavours. Big Brother host Davina McCall picked up the award for Presenter of the Year despite the dire reception to her BBC chat show. Funnywoman of the Year went to Extras star Ashley Jensen. Supermodel Naomi Campbell received the Outstanding Contribution Award.

07 Jun 2006 - Scissor Sisters Back!

Scissor Sisters have confirmed details of their new album, which is called "Tah-dah". The New York pop stars have set a September 18 release date for the record, which is the follow-up to their self-titled breakthrough debut LP.

"Tah-dah" will be preceded by a single, "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'", which is a collaboration with Elton John, one of the band's biggest influences.

Speaking about the new album, which is understood to have just been completed, frontman Jake Shears said the group were determined to get the record right. "I'm completely excited. I feel like I've birthed a baby! That would be the closest thing, it was very weird and painful but I think my baby is really cute! The old rock cliché is very true, it's harder doing a second album, but that's why we took our time with it," said Shears.
