20 Feb 2007 - CD: Best Of Lisa Gerrard

Over a career spanning more than two decades, Lisa Gerrard has established herself as a unique figure whose work has covered a multitude of musical endeavours. She now releases a record which offers the perfect introduction to this wealth of riches : nine albums with Dead Can Dance, three beautiful solo works, a series of collaborative masterpieces and a string of award-winning motion picture soundtracks.

Simply titled "Lisa Gerrard", the album was selected and sequenced by Lisa herself. And so it's a genuine "best of" which offers a concise and entirely convincing insight into the various strands of her musical output. In short, "Lisa Gerrard" blends soundtrack work, Dead Can Dance highlights and the pick of her solo recordings into a seamless and spellbinding whole.

Marc Almond would like to thank the fans in Istanbul for making his first proper concert in a year so special. Singing the song by national icon Zeki Muren partly in Turkish (he is sorry for any bad pronunciation) and hearing your reactions singing back to him was one of his greatest concert moments. If anyone has a recording (audio, video, phone, etc) of fairly decent quality of this moment, Marc would like a copy and it would be greatly appreciated. Please send an email to
kate@marcalmond.co.uk if you can help. A small selection of photos from the concert will appear in the Stage area of The Theatre web site soon.
