Out of all the bands to emerge from the original UK punk scene and later the post punk and goth rock scenes, Siouxsie and the Banshees still remain one of the most influential. Quite simply, they were magnificent.

John Peel was the only DJ to play Punk and was genuinely baffled by the fact that Siouxsie and the Banshees were unsigned, unsuccessfully attempting to get them a deal with BBC Records.??

Their first two sessions for John went on to form the bulk of their first album 'The Scream' and was the first airing of 'Hong Kong Garden', the track that crashed into the top 10 when, having secured a deal with Polydor, the band finally released their debut single.

The band went on to record another 3 sessions for John featuring tracks that would appear on 'Join Hands', 'JuJu' and 'Tinderbox'. By then the world had turned, Siouxsie and the Banshees were playing sell out tours and were play-listed on day time Radio 1.

Justin Timberlake has announced details of an enormous tour of America, with plans for a full global jaunt also in the pipeline.
The pop superstar played a series of intimate 'club' shows earlier this year, to promote his new album, "FutureSex / LoveSounds". He has now confirmed a total of 34 new arena concerts, with support from Pink, commencing in January in San Diego and completing at the end of March in New Jersey.

Timberlake, who will tour with a 14-piece band, is also expected to confirm a further 60 gigs elsewhere in the world in the coming weeks, according to Billboard.

Speaking about the tour in a statement, Justin said: "I've been rehearsing the band, getting the show ready and tight. "What do we got? Ten dancers, 14 band members, a million tricks up my sleeve, a crazy light show - and I might even show up. So that's pretty exciting. No, seriously, come out. I'll see you guys there."

Justin Timberlake releases a new single, "My Love", on November 13.

George Michael has given a revealing interview to mark 25 years in the spotlight. In his only interview to mark his 25 years in music, George discussed his work, his sexuality, the press and marijuana.

The singer recently hit the headlines after being caught asleep at the wheel of his car. He told The South Bank Show's Melvyn Bragg: "If I'd drunk as much as I'd smoked, my god I'd look like Keith Richards." Further cementing his rock 'n' roll image, he commented: "Led Zeppelin are my favourite rock group of all time - they sound like they know how to have sex." But, showing he still has a serious side, he said of his anti-war song: "As the years go by, Mr Blair is making Shoot The Dog a word perfect protest song."

The secretive star agreed to let The South Bank Show have access to rehearsals for his first live tour in 15 years. George Michael: I'm Your Man airs on October 31 at 10pm.

The Sugababes are the girl band of the 21st century with more hit singles than any other all-female act in the last six years, new research has revealed. The group made their chart debut six years ago with Overload.

????Since 2000 they have enjoyed 16 hits, beating Madonna and Britney Spears, according to research from the book of British Hit Singles And Albums. The book's editor, David Roberts, said: "Britain has a tradition of creating great girl groups.

"Bananarama dominated the Eighties, the Spice Girls were huge in the Nineties, but the Noughties belong to the Sugababes." Sugababes first made UK chart history in 2002 when, with Freak Like Me, they became the youngest female group to top the chart.

The band began as Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Siobhan Donaghy before Siobhan quit in 2001. She was replaced by Heidi Range, but the band changed again recently when Mutya left and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah.

A hit is defined by the book of British Hit Singles And Albums as a track which charts in the top 75.
